The Boston Celtics have won 5 games in a row, without Rajon Rondo, arguably the best passing point-guard in the NBA. Why? I just don't get how they're beating the teams the way they are. With Rondo on the team they weren't beating the teams they were supposed to, they never succeeded in the last minute. Going down with the ACL tear. Many people thought this team was "toast". Well apparently they aren't. They had one point guard on the roster and now they don't have a single one. How could you be beating some of the best teams in the league, like the Clippers, like the Miami Heat? They've showed what true toughness is in these past five games.
I still believe that they are one of the three best teams in the Eastern Conference, even with the roster they have now. Don't you think that Rondo might have been a little bit of a problem for them? He clearly didn't have condfidence in these guys. Not having that one guy to dominate the ball for them and control the offense has not been a problem. The ball rarely stays in one guys hand for more than five seconds. Nobody on the team gets double digit assists anymore, everyone has been putting in atleast 3 or 4.
They are better off in the short term without Rondo, but for the long-term, he's going to have to realize that these guys can play, and they can win.
